Why Hire Me as Your Doula?

Pregnancy, birth and those early newborn days can be magical, exciting, emotional and, let's be honest, a little overwhelming at times. Between endless advice from friends and family, social media experts, and Google searches at 2am, it's easy to feel like everyone has an opinion about what's best for you and your baby.

That's where I come in.

As a qualified Birth and Postnatal Doula, Hypnobirthing Instructor and Birthing Biomechanics practitioner, my role is to provide calm, compassionate and evidence-based support throughout your journey into parenthood. I don't tell you what choices to make. Instead, I help you understand your options, build your confidence and make decisions that feel right for you and your family.

I'm Your Calm in the Chaos

Birth is unpredictable. Babies rarely read the birth plan!

Whether you're planning a home birth, hospital birth, birth centre birth, caesarean birth or VBAC, I'll be there as a steady, reassuring presence throughout your journey.

Think of me as:

  • Your cheerleader

  • Your sounding board

  • Your information guide

  • Your calming presence

  • Your advocate for informed choice

I'll be in your corner from pregnancy through to the postnatal period, helping you navigate whatever twists and turns come your way, always without judgement.

Helping You Feel Informed and Heard

One of the most valuable things a doula can offer is helping you feel confident enough to use your voice.

During pregnancy and birth, you may be presented with choices, recommendations or unexpected changes to your plans. In those moments, it isn't always easy to process information or fully understand your options.

My role isn't to make decisions for you. It's to ensure you have the information, support and confidence to make decisions for yourself.

Before becoming a doula, I spent 30 years building a successful corporate career, ultimately working as a Strategic Director in a large global organisation. Asking challenging questions, analysing information, navigating complex situations and advocating for people was part of my everyday life.

Those skills now benefit the families I support. If recommendations are made about your care, I'll help you understand the evidence, alternatives, risks and benefits, and encourage the conversations needed for truly informed decision-making.

Because this is your birth.

Your body.

Your baby.

And your voice matters.

No Judgement. Just Support.

There is no "perfect" birth.

You might want all the candles and a birth pool in your living room. You might want every pain relief option available. You might be planning a caesarean. You might change your mind halfway through labour.

And that's completely okay.

I provide compassionate, non-judgemental support for all birth choices and feeding journeys.

I Support Your Birth Partner Too

A common misconception is that doulas replace birth partners.

Absolutely not.

I love helping birth partners feel confident and involved. When your partner understands what's happening and has practical ways to support you, they're often able to relax into their role and enjoy the experience more too.

Together, we create the best possible support team around you.

My Support Doesn't End When Baby Arrives

Birth is only the beginning.

As a Postnatal Doula, I provide gentle support as your family adjusts to life with your new baby. Whether that means:

  • Practical help around the house

  • Emotional support and reassurance

  • Feeding support

  • A listening ear

  • Time for you to rest and recover

I'm there to support not just your baby, but you too.

Because while everyone is busy admiring the baby, someone should be looking after you.

A Personal Understanding of the Journey

My path to becoming a doula began after becoming a mother myself and following a lifelong love of pregnancy, birth and babies. That experience inspired me to leave my corporate career and retrain so I could support other families through one of the most significant transitions of their lives.

I understand that every family is different, which is why I tailor my support to your unique needs, preferences and circumstances.

More Than Just Doula Support

Alongside doula care, I'm also a qualified Hypnobirthing Instructor and trained in Birthing Biomechanics. This means I can help you:

  • Understand the physiology of birth

  • Learn breathing and relaxation techniques

  • Build confidence for labour and birth

  • Understand your birth options

  • Navigate unexpected changes calmly

  • Explore positioning and movement techniques that may support comfort and labour progress

These additional skills allow me to offer more comprehensive support throughout pregnancy and birth.

Why Families Choose Me

Families often tell me they choose me because I bring a combination of warmth, professionalism and practical experience.

I'll listen when you need someone to talk to, provide reassurance when things feel uncertain, and help you find reliable, evidence-based information when you have questions.

Most importantly, I'll stand alongside you so you feel informed, supported and empowered throughout your pregnancy, birth and early parenting journey.
