postnatal doula
The weeks following the arrival of your baby can be wonderful, emotional, overwhelming and everything in between. Alongside getting to know your new baby, you're also recovering from birth, adjusting to a new identity, processing a huge life change and finding your own rhythm as a family.
While a great deal of attention is given to preparing for birth, many parents find that the postnatal period brings its own challenges, questions and uncertainties.
As a Postnatal Doula, and a mum myself, I know that becoming a parent is one of life's most profound transitions. Every family's journey is unique, and there is no single "right" way to navigate the early weeks and months after birth. My role is to provide gentle, non-judgemental emotional and practical support, helping you feel cared for, supported and confident as you settle into life with your baby.
Whether you're a first-time parent or welcoming another child into your family, you don't have to navigate this journey alone.
What Is a Postnatal Doula?
A postnatal doula offers personalised support during the first weeks and months after your baby arrives, helping parents adjust to the realities of life with a newborn.
Unlike family members or friends, a postnatal doula provides dedicated support that is entirely focused on you and your family's needs. This support is tailored to your individual circumstances, offering a calm and reassuring presence during a time of enormous change.
A postnatal doula understands that caring for a baby is only one part of the journey. New parents also need support, encouragement and practical help as they recover from birth, build confidence and find their own way as a family.
My role is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you, providing evidence-based information, practical assistance and emotional support so that you feel empowered to make the choices that are right for you.
Why Postnatal Support Matters
The postnatal period, often known as the fourth trimester, is a time of enormous adjustment. You may be recovering physically, navigating feeding, coping with sleep deprivation, managing changing emotions or simply wondering whether what you're experiencing is normal. Many families find themselves wishing they had an extra pair of hands, a listening ear, or someone to reassure them that they're doing a wonderful job.
This is where postnatal doula support can make a real difference.
This is the kind of care that feels like having part of your village beside you. The kind of support that arrives after the visitors have gone home and real life with a newborn begins. Every visit is completely tailored to your needs on that particular day. Some families need practical support around the home, others want reassurance around feeding and newborn care, and many simply need someone who will listen without judgement and remind them that they are not alone.

Some days you may want practical help with washing, tidying or preparing food. Other days you may simply want to sit down with a cup of tea and talk through how you're feeling. Both are equally important.
Support With Feeding
Feeding your baby can be a joyful experience, but it can also bring challenges and unexpected emotions.
Whether you're breastfeeding, expressing, combination feeding or formula feeding, my role is to support your choices without judgement. I can provide practical reassurance, help you access reliable information and signpost you to specialist feeding support where appropriate. My aim is always to help you feel confident and supported in whatever feeding journey is right for your family.
Building Your Village
Many families are raising babies away from extended family support or simply don't have the village that previous generations relied upon. Postnatal doula support helps bridge that gap.
As well as supporting you directly, I can help connect you with trusted local professionals and services should additional support be beneficial. Whether that's feeding support, baby massage, local parent groups or specialist practitioners, I can help point you towards the right resources.
Because no parent should feel they have to figure everything out alone.
Complimentary Discovery Call
Our journey starts with a free, no-obligation discovery call.
This is an opportunity for us to chat about your family, your hopes for the postnatal period and the type of support that would feel most helpful. It also gives you the chance to ask any questions and see whether we feel like a good fit.
Getting to Know You
If you'd like to move forward, we'll arrange a face-to-face meeting before your baby's arrival, or after birth if preferred. This allows us to discuss your family's individual needs, any concerns you may have, and how I can best support you during the weeks and months ahead.
Feeling comfortable and supported is incredibly important, and these early conversations help us build a trusting relationship before support begins.
Flexible Support Tailored to You
Some families book regular weekly visits, while others prefer occasional support during particularly busy or challenging periods. Whether you're looking for a few hours of support, ongoing help during the fourth trimester, or additional care as your family grows, I can tailor my support accordingly.
Investment
Every family is different, which is why postnatal support is completely flexible and tailored to your individual needs. Sessions can be booked on an ad-hoc basis or as part of a personalised support package. I request a minimum booking of five, three-hour postnatal blocks.
Pricing is available on request following a free discovery call, where we can discuss your family's needs and create a package that feels right for you. Please note, discounts will be offered for block bookings.
